Your career assumptions are wrong.
They mean nothing unless they’re challenged.
Last month a client joined the 4-Week Career Challenge because they wanted a new job.
But when I asked how their search was going, they said they hadn’t started looking.
Why’s that?
“It’s just not the right time for me to find a new job. “
I told them that if this was an itch they wanted to scratch, then at the very least they should be seeing what’s out there.
And if it truly is the wrong time, then they’re always in control of the decisions they make.
So they decided to give it a go.
Within a week they’d landed 2 interviews.
Within 2 weeks they’d received a contract.
And within 3 weeks they’d signed it.
Look, I’m all good if you tell me something you’ve validated.
But don’t tell me your assumptions that are baseless.
And stop telling them to yourself and not taking action.
Go out and test them.
