I have a client who’s in their 30s managing people in their 50s.
You’re not too junior to lead.
Age doesn’t determine authority.
But your ability to communicate, support and take ownership does.
Still, too many professionals hold back.
They wait until they’ve got more years.
Wait until someone taps them on the shoulder.
Wait until it feels like the “right time.”
But these are all assumptions that need to be challenged.
There should be nothing stopping you going for leadership positions (especially yourself!).
So if you’re aspiring towards a formal leadership role but feel too junior, stop holding back and go for it now.
And while you don’t have formal authority, keep leading in an informal capacity, because your leadership qualities are being recognised and valued by others.
