Missing a deadline isn’t necessarily a negative.
If you or your team were motivated to go above-and-beyond in the pursuit of a worthy goal, and you set an ambitious deadline to push for, then falling just short of this deadline isn’t a bad thing (especially if everyone feels satisfied with the work that was done and how they applied themselves).
A deadline is simply a tool which can be used to achieve a particular outcome. Try not to attach a negative association to it if the tool was used to produce a better outcome than it would have otherwise.
