I get asked this question a lot about career coaching:
How long does career coaching last?
The answer I give is:
Professionals engage me for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
Here’s a Reason
I had a client who approached me wanting to change jobs. However, we determined it wasn’t a new job they actually wanted. Instead, they felt undervalued in their role and they really wanted a pay rise. So we shifted their focus, built a case for a pay rise and ultimately secured a $35,000 pay bump. That was the breakthrough they needed and they left very happy.
Here’s a Season
I had a client who’d been working towards a Principal role in their firm for years. They were loyal and capable but constantly overlooked. We worked together on their strategy and positioning, and with time they got the promotion. Not only that, they later recommended my services to their company. That coaching engagement was a clear chapter with a clear payoff.
Here’s a Lifetime
And then there’s my very first client. We started working together over five years ago and we’re still going strong. They didn’t come to me with a single goal. They came because they wanted to keep growing and have an amazing career. Since then, they have enjoyed fantastic gains and have set themselves up really well. It’s been valuable for both of us, and a great demonstration that the best investment you can make in your career is having continuous conversations.
So where are you at with your career?
Could you value from a short sprint?
Or maybe you’re someone that enjoys steady growth?
Either way, I’d love to have a chat and explore what’s possible.
