Ending meetings on time is just as important as starting on time.
This is about valuing the time of every person.
If you are hosting a meeting, you have a responsibility to ensure the meeting goes to time. 🕒
If you are participating in a meeting, you shouldn’t have an obligation to stay longer than the defined meeting duration. ❌⏳
It doesn’t matter if you have another engagement to attend or if your calendar is free.
You should only be in that meeting if it’s the single greatest use of your time. ✅
If you are regularly being invited to meetings that run over time, then it’s you that has to make a point at the start of a meeting that you must leave at the stated end time, and hold firm on that exit when the time comes.
You will need courage if this goes against the culture of your company. 💪
But once you start respecting your time, you’ll be surprised by how quickly everyone else will respect theirs too.
How do you hold meeting boundaries respectfully?
