Many professionals in their 20s & 30s feel obliged to accept a position which they applied for.
Usually the thought behind this is: Why would I have applied if I didn’t want the job?
What’s missed though is the fact that job applications are a two-way exchange of information.
The more you find out about a position through the hiring process, the better placed you are to decide if you actually want it.
So whenever you apply for a job, just remember that you’re starting with limited information and that it’s perfectly reasonable to withdraw your application if the new information doesn’t serve you.
